Calgary New Year's Eve with the Family

Have you made any plans yet for New Year's Eve? If not, consider spending the evening at Calgary City Hall with the whole family. This is one free party that's kid-friendly and suitable for those that want to avoid a late night drinking party and would prefer to spend time with their family.

The celebration starts at 7 p.m. and includes games and dancing. You and your children can enjoy stilt walkers and fire dancers as they light up the night or ride a bicycle with lighting effects included. There's also a photo booth and an area for making a special glow-in-the-dark hat for the occasion!

At 9:00 there is a countdown to the New Year for the kids and then everything winds down at 10:00 p.m. It's an early family night that gives you the opportunity to spend some time with the kids before settling down for a quiet evening at home or heading out for an adult party while leaving your children with a sitter.

New Year's Eve at Olympic Plaza

If you're looking for something a little later head on down to Olympic Plaza for the City New Year's Bash 2013. This is a free celebration that begins at 9:30 p.m. and lasts until 12:15 a.m. Entertainment for the evening includes musical performances by Serena Ryder, Johnny Reid, Massari and Victoria Duffield.

The mayor will be on hand to help countdown to the New Year right before 12:00 followed by a firework show starting at midnight. Citytv and the City of Calgary are both hosting this event, which is also suitable for children of all ages - depending on how late they can stay up!
