From Skiing to Golf in the Blink of an Eye

Avid skiers are saying a fond farewell to the winter months while golfers are anxiously anticipating their next round of golf. The weather has been unusually warm and golf courses in the area are already booked up for the month of March. At the same time, tennis enthusiasts can get out their tennis rackets since 40 tennis courts have been opened by the city of Calgary.

Saturday the weather is expected to reach a high of 18°C and the Fox Hollow Golf Course is already booked solid. This course opened its temporary greens for business last Saturday while the permanent greens at HeatherGlen, Blue Devil and GlenEagles golf courses were going to be open today and tomorrow. When the weather cools down on Sunday and Monday, the courses will be temporary closed down until the weather hits the double digits once again.

There are a lot of avid golfers here in Calgary that were excited to hear that the golf courses would be opening early. It didn't take long before the news spread and the 3 courses run by Play Golf Calgary were booked solid for today and tomorrow within an hour.

The Turner Valley golf club and the Crystal Ridge golf club in Okotoks have also opened temporary greens today on the front nine only. While the grass isn't yet green, people are still excited to be golfing in March here in Calgary. Courses in this area usually don't open until early April.

It's time to pack away the skis for good and get ready for the golfing season. If you're not a golfer, make sure that you still plan some quality time outside tomorrow to enjoy the fantastic warm weather.
