Guess what's coming to Mahogany ?
The lake community of Mahogany in Calgary’ deep South East has already won awards, as best new community. The developers have also chosen award winning builders to participate in the creation of the community. At final build out, years down the road, this young neighbourhood will be home to nearly 27, 000 people. Yet, community stakeholders are working diligently to create a neighbourhood where small town values are embraced and embodied. One such development from Jayman Homes in Mahogany, is about to do just that.
What is Westman Village
Westman Village is a community within a community and promises to be a place for all people. Young, old, single, families and everything in between. The first thing to be constructed will be The Village Centre, a 35,000 square foot community hall and gathering place. The focus will be on a variety of lifestyle activities such as exercise, nutrition and social/recreation programming. The layout of the centre and surrounding area will ensure that people can meet over coffee or lunch nearby, or at the off leash park or at the movies. The community of Westman Village will have 24-hour concierge who will ensure that even small everyday problems or challenges can be addressed. That includes help with the Internet or for older residents, assistance picking up prescriptions.
Jayman Homes has made provision for retail and commercial space for all the various home they have planned. That includes Calligraphy Condos and Journey Club Active Living. There were even be rental units available in Westman Village. There are show suites open for people to check out the vision and floor plans at 3132 – 181 Ave SE, which is actually located north of Mahogany in Douglas Glen.
An indoor pool with a water slide, water features and elegant, lush landscaping, fine dining at Chairman’s Steakhouse. Westman Village is acting on a vision that the company founder dreamt about years ago – a community where every generation is connected and cared for. His theory was that people go through a new life cycle every five years or so. Because their lives change, their goals change and their surroundings often need to change to reflect a new cycle. The residences within Westman Village are meant to be all encompassing as Jayman follows through on A.C. Westman’s theory.
Calligraphy Condos are ideal for first-time buyers or for those who are “right-sizing”, to coin a phrase. For those looking to spend their twilight years in comfort and complete security, Jayman will be offering Journey Club. Active living, independent living or assisted options will be available. What that will look like is benches at the front door, wider doors and hallways to accommodate wheelchairs and other accessible design features such as automatic lights.
Estate bungalows will also be constructed with some on the lake with walk-outs.The community as a whole will be walkable every season of the year. Heated tunnels and Plus-15s are not amenities you might expect in a suburban community, but Westman Village has made a promise and a commitment to be convenient and to help people from every age and stage of life stay connected Posted by on
