It's Time for a Summer Picnic

The summer is upon us and it's time to take the family for a picnic. There are plenty of great parks throughout Calgary to provide you with the perfect picnic spot. Three parks come to mind when thinking about picnicking and having fun with the kids. Here are the top three choices for your next outdoor meal.

Prince’s Island Park

Found in the middle of downtown, Prince’s Island Park is the perfect place for your next picnic. It's surrounded by water and provides plenty of picnic sites. You can also enjoy the many hiking trails, flower gardens, water fountains, playgrounds, pathways and the large art sculptures. If you don't want to pack your own picnic, you can even pick something up at the cafe.

Bowness Park

Whether you just want to enjoy the beauty of the park or you want to kayak in the lagoons, you can enjoy a little more than just a picnic at Bowness Park. Plenty of great picnic areas are available, along with mini golf, a miniature train, playgrounds and more. This is the perfect place in N.W. Calgary to take the kids and the lagoons provide a great place for canoeing, kayaking or a trip in a paddleboat.

Fish Creek Provincial Park

As the largest urban park in all of Canada, you can't go wrong with a picnic at Fish Creek Provincial Park. This park provides many picnic sites, both large and small. It's located in the Fish Creek valley and provides visitors with trails, pathways, an aquatic facility and a learning centre. There's even a restaurant and cafe if you prefer to pick something up at the park.

No matter which park you choose for your next picnic, you can certainly enjoy the outdoors with your family. These are just three of the great parks found throughout Calgary and many others can also provide a great place for your picnic.
