Most New Condos Are Now Including Granite or Quartz Countertops. Is This Important to You?
The trend in kitchens that has been ongoing for a while now is to have a bright sparkling countertop that simply lights up the kitchen. A lot of the new condominiums that are being built include this luxury feature in all of the models simply because many people now expect a topline countertop to be adorning their kitchen. When you take a look at the cost of these higher-end counters, however, you'll realize that this price needs to be incorporated into the cost of the condo and you're ending up paying the extra price.Whatever happened to laminate countertops?
Quite simply, they don't have the shining brilliance like the quartz and granite counters do. They also don't last half as long. If you have children and are working on a laminate countertop, you'll quickly start to see signs of wear and tear, which can diminish the look of the whole kitchen once things get bad enough. While laminate counters are a lot less expensive, they simply don't look as nice as their higher-end counterparts.
Are you willing to pay the extra?
What do you think? Is it worth the extra cost for the initial purchase? When you consider that quartz and granite will virtually last a lifetime with proper care, it just may be worth the initial investment - especially if you have fallen in love with the condo for all of its other features. Higher-end counters will also help when it comes time to resell the unit since kitchen counters that shine can be a major selling feature that a lot of potential home buyers are looking for.
The difference between quartz and granite
Quartz countertops don't need to be sealed since they are extremely porous. Granite countertops, on the other hand, need to be sealed in order to maintain their integrity and this sealing process should be done yearly. Other than that, they are both fantastic counters that can last for years and years and the one that you like the most will all depend on your personal preference for design and appearance.
