Things to Do in Calgary this July
Yee-haw, ya-hoo, or howdy! Whatever your cowboy/cowgirl exclamation is, the month of July is the perfect time to use it! Why? The arrival of the Calgary Stampede of course!
For ten days out of the month of July, locals as well as tourists from all across the world will attend the world's greatest outdoor show! Rodeo shows on the grounds, snacking on Midway treats, filling up with pancake breakfasts, and checking out the top artists visiting the city — there is a never-ending list of things to do!
Of course, aside from the Calgary Stampede, there are an abundance of other events (both Stampede-themed and otherwise) going on. These include everything from music festivals to the Day of the Dog! Food Truck Fiesta — July 20th
Featuring over 20 different local food trucks, the Food Truck Fiesta is the perfect way to spend a summer evening! The food trucks will gather in Evanston from 4-9pm on July 20th to celebrate with the community. Bring the entire family to enjoy the unique foods, fun activities such as face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon animals, and more!
The Little Vegan Night Market — July 26th
Hosted by the Little Vegan Market YYC, The Little Vegan Night Market event is a summer night food extravaganza! This free experience will be hosted at the Marda Loop Community Association and will showcase amazing vegan food, goods, and services from the local area. Food trucks will also be attending this event, so be sure to bring your appetite!
Kids & Family Events in Calgary
Canada Day Celebration — July 1st
Across the city of Calgary there will be various events occurring to celebrate Canada Day! These many events will feature music, dancing, fireworks, and culture, taking place in downtown Calgary locations including Prince's Island Park, Olympic Plaza, and others. The evening will end at the Tim Hortons Canada Day Stage with the stunning City of Calgary Fireworks Show at 11pm.
Calgary Stampede Parade — July 5th
Grab your lawn chairs, sunscreen, and coffee and donuts on July 5th so you can be prepared to take in the entirety of the exciting Calgary Stampede Parade. Beginning at 9AM by the Calgary Tower on 9th Avenue and completing near City Hall along 6th Avenue, you can observe some of the most wonderous floats, vehicles, horses, and dancers! This free cultural experience is not to be missed! Please note, seating along the roads for parade viewing are first-come-first-serve.

Calgary Stampede — July 5-14th
Rodeos, chuck-wagon races, Midway food, pancake breakfasts, shows, and rides... there is so much to see, do, and taste at the Calgary Stampede that you will need to start planning today! Head down to wander the grounds from dawn until dusk from July 5th to the 14th and be sure to catch the famous Grandstand Show complete with fireworks each evening! Fiestaval Latin Festival — July 19-21st
For three days, the heart of downtown Calgary will be showcasing and celebrating Latin culture for the Fiestaval Latin Festival. The event will include international bands, shows, as well as over 30 community food vendors. Kids area, beer garden, and artisan market areas are also accessible! This event is completely free and is located at the Calgary Olympic Plaza.
Pet-A-Palooza Calgary — July 27-28th
The Day of the Dog has arrived once more in Calgary! Taking place at Eau Claire, bring your furry friends to this pet-friendly and free event celebrating the dogs! At Pet-A-Palooza, you will find local vendors, pet-focused products, cooling pools, and dog/owner events. The event is free for all owners and pets, but some ticket purchases are required for specialized events.

Zac Brown Band — July 12th
Coming to the city of Calgary in celebration of the Calgary Stampede, Zac Brown Band will be performing live at the Scotiabank Saddledome! Head down for amazing country music featuring songs from their latest album, "Welcome Home." Tickets are available for purchase on Ticketmaster.ca.
Tim McGraw — July 14th
Yet another of the big names in country music that is visiting Calgary for Stampede is Tim McGraw! Performing at the Scotiabank Saddledome, this Grammy Award winning artist will serenade you all night long with his hit songs including "Neon Church!" Purchase your tickets to his show at Ticketmaster.ca — each ticket purchased will include admission to Stampede Park.
Backstreet Boys: DNA World Tour — July 24th
Backstreet's back, alright! Coming to showcase their DNA World Tour, the Backstreet Boys will be at the Scotiabank Saddledome sharing music from their new album, and past favourites as well.
Calgary Folk Music Festival — July 25-28th
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the annual Calgary Folk Music Festival is scheduled for July 25th to the 28th. This music festival will be at Prince's Island Park where attendees can hear music from a variety of hit folk artists including: Belle & Sebastian, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, I Am the Mountain, and others! Calgary International Blues Festival — July 29-August 4th
For four days from morning until night, the Calgary International Blues Festival will be getting the most out of summer with blues music!
