Where can You Donate Larger Household Items in Calgary?

Spring cleaning time is nearly here and many will be looking for a place to drop off items they no longer need. Sometimes you need to be able to donate an older fridge or stove because of a remodel or just a replacement. Here are a few of the places you can take some of your larger household items.

Donate Computers

If you need to get rid of a computer or any other electronic device, the Electronic Recycling Association is the place for you. ERA is located at 1301 34 Avenue SE and they will use the items to help charities and non-profits. They even have a hard drive shredder to ensure your safety.

Donate Bikes

The Good Life Community Bike Shop will be happy to take any bikes or bike accessories off your hands. When you're cleaning out the garage and realize all your bike is doing is collecting dust or you have a new one, it's time to donate it. They use the bikes for children that go through one of their programs and they also sell them in the store. The Good Life Community Bike Shop is found at 2100 4 Street SW.

Donate Appliances

Large appliances can be a pain to get rid of, but ReStore makes it easier for you. Anything in good condition and less than 10 years old, they will take. After an inspection, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore location at 3465 Sunridge Way NE will pick up the item for $30. They will even give you a tax receipt for items valued at $150 or more. You can also donate wood, unopened paint, extra tiles and sinks to ReStore.

Donate Cars

Maybe you have an old car you need to get rid of and you don't want to just send it off to the junk yard, you can donate it at donatecar.ca. They will take anything, running or not. The proceeds are used to support the Calgary Humane Society and they will provide a tax receipt, too.
