Christie Park Neighbourhood

The elevated land of the Christie Park neighborhood ensures an amazing panoramic view of the Bow River and the city. The view from the community gets better during the evening when the night is illuminated by the lights from the city and the stars are reflected by the river.

In 1956, the land was annexed to the City of Calgary from the Municipal District of Rocky View, but it was only established in 1990 as a neighborhood. This act was represented by Ward 6 Alderman Richard Pootmans in the Calgary City Council. 

Classy condominiums and apartments comprise 5.5% of the residential real estate and 4.8% was centered on homes for rent. There are elegant townhouses, single-detached family homes, and spacious modern and traditional two-story houses, all scattered over prime locations. The elevated area gave the inspiration for some residences to take advantage of the lush, tree-filled ravines. The median household income according to a 2000 survey was at $102,664.

Christie Park offers a wonderful community park which is close to the West Side Recreation Centre.  The public school serving the area is Olympic Heights Elementary. There are a lot of recreational spots near the area including the Bow River, Elbow River, Edworthy Park, Glendale Athletic Park, and the already-mentioned West Side Recreation Centre.
