Martindale Community
Situated in the northeast zone of the city, the Martindale community is just east of the Calgary International Airport and two industrial parks, Saddle Ridge and Westwinds. Martindale real estate is flanked by three other fine communities: Castleridge to the south, Saddleridge to the north, and Taradale to the east. The locality of Martindale was developed in 1983 from a plot of land that the city of Calgary annexed in 1961.
The homes in this neighborhood are comprised mainly of single-family starter residences and move-up homes. Condominiums and apartments constitute only 3 percent of the residential buildings in this community, and 12.6 percent of the total housing is for renting. The starting prices of Martindale homes for sale typically range from the $200s up to the $400s.
Martindale Neighbourhood Amenities
The recreational facilities available to Martindale neighbourhood home buyers include a toboggan hill and a community skating rink that morphs into a skateboard park in the summer. The neighboring Castleridge subdivision, with which Martindale has excellent relations, has a forty-acre park, Prairie Winds. Yet another park, Martin Crossing, is located east of Martindale real estate. Designed for joint use, Martin Crossing Park has a community centre, an outdoor hockey rink, soccer fields, basketball courts, and ball diamonds.
Martindale Schools
Notably, a new public school was recently set up in Martindale. Transit to and from points of interest around the city are conveniently facilitated by 80 Avenue N to the north, by Falconridge Boulevard to the east, 64 Avenue N to the south, and by 44 Street E to the west. An LRT train station also resides within the community to aid in transportation.
