McKenzie Towne Community
There are four distinct sections in the McKenzie Towne community, each with its own architectural styles. The Elgin area showcases European architecture, including English Tudor, Greek Revival, French Eclectic, and Italianate. The neighbourhood's Prestwick and Inverness areas follow four styles: Queen Anne (Victorian), Craftsman, Georgian, and National. The fourth section, High Street, is McKenzie Towne's commercial area, featuring street-focused commercial and retail properties, both large and small.
Aside from detached, single-family homes, there are also condos and apartments in this community that currently has about 10,000 residents. Only 4 percent of the neighborhood's residences are used for renting. Sales-listed townhouses in the community are typically offered at starting prices around $200,000. High-end choices are also available, with these custom-built single-family homes usually costing about $1 million dollars or more.
McKenzie Towne Neighborhood Amenities
Development of the McKenzie Towne neighbourhood started in 1995 and it is still being developed today. As it is though, McKenzie already has a lot to show. Besides its numerous ponds, the community has ribbons of pathways, a fountain and splash park, expansive green spaces, and its own private park. Home buyers' social activities gravitate toward the McKenzie Town Hall, seat for the neighborhood association, which not only hosts offices and meeting rooms but also banquet facilities and a gymnasium. Two schools, one public and one separate, are also in the McKenzie Towne subdivision.
Moreover, venturing out to Calgary's various attractions from the neighbourhood is conveniently facilitated by Deerfoot Trail on the west, Marquis of Lorne Trail on the south, and 52 Street SE on the east. The South Trail regional commercial centre resides along 130 Ave. SE at the northern boundary of the McKenzie Towne community, as well.
