Strathcona Park Neighbourhood

The Strathcona Park neighbourhood used to be under the jurisdiction of the Municipal District of Rocky View until 1956 when it was annexed and became a part of the City of Calgary. Ward 6 Alderman Richard Pootmans represents Strathcona Park in the Calgary City Council. The neighborhood was developed in the 1980s and its extension, the Springhaven, was developed in the 1990s.

In 2000, statistics showed that the median household income in the community was $105,139. All residential buildings in the area are single-family detached homes. Only a small portion of the homes in the area are available for rent (7.9%) because the majority of the houses in the neighborhood are owned. A 2006 census showed that the population in the area was about 7,270.
